As the years progressed, James became more and more involved in the daily operations of the company and was eventually promoted to Senior Vice President where he reported directly to the Senior President of the Eastern region for North Carolina. During his tenure with Westminster's sales grew from 12 million to 80 million annually.
After several years as Senior VP, he accepted a position as the Manager of the Commercial Development department, which involved land acquisitions for shopping centers, lease up, and construction.
Mr. Maides later decided to join W.T. Humphrey Construction Group based in Norfolk Virginia where he continued with land acquisition and shopping center construction throughout the eastern seaboard. James worked directly with Mr. Humphrey and was responsible for all accounting, bonding and the overall management of the company. He remained with W.T.
